The
Sun Shines for Ripley School Sponsored Walk
A sponsored
walk took place through Ripley Village on Saturday to
raise further funds for the Primary School expansion
plan. Placards were carried around to announce the first
of the public consultation meetings which are required
as part of the public consultation process.
Almost half the
school turned out for the event. Pre-schoolers walked
alongside their older siblings, parents, staff and other
members of the community. After a brisk walk through
the Village Green, and past all the main Village landmarks,
we joined together at the School to end with a balloon
race. Mrs Walker counted down to the release of balloons
in Ripley school colours of blue and white which provided
a dramatic display and much excitement to the children.
The glorious weather
made it perfect for families to end the morning together
over tea and cake kindly provided by the talented parents
and well-wishers of the school.
The sponsored walk
is one of the last major fundraising events of the year.
We hope that the County Council Executive will take
the final decision and agree to Ripley becoming an all-through
Primary School ready for September 2008 which will make
all this year's fundraising worthwhile.
A big thank you
to all who were involved and especially to Pat Baker
who masterminded this event.
