27 & 30 June 2016: Ripley Athletes Amazing Achievement: The children who represented our school in the WASPS District Sports Athletics Track and Field events made school history by recording our highest ever finish since joining WASPS five years ago.  The Field Events on Monday were tough as we were competing against children from 24 other schools.  Despite this, we scored our first ever points thanks to Elin's 5th place finish in the Year 4 long jump and Austin, who won bronze in the Year 4 vortex throw.  But it was Thursday's performance on Track where the children really excelled.  Imogen, Elin, Tom and Ben all finished 1st in their respective sprint heats.  Elin also went on to win the gold medal for the Year 4 sprint, meaning she retained her title as the fastest girl in her age group in the Woking Schools Partnership.  There was also a 1st place finish in the Year 3/4 girls shuttle relay for the 2nd year running.  Thanks to these 1st place finishes and consistent top 3 finishes throughout the afternoon, the team finished an amazing 2nd place in the track events out of the 23 schools competing on the day.  When the points from Monday's Field Events were added to those from the Track Events, we finished a fantastic 6th place overall out of 24 school.  This is a truly brilliant result for the school and the children should be proud of their achievements.  Mr Green certainly is!    For images please see our Photo Gallery.

9 June 2016:  A team of Year 5 children took part in the Guildford Schools Kwik Cricket Competition at Ripley Cricket Club.  Despite three narrow defeats the team had a fantastic afternoon and represented the school and themselves very well in what was their first cricket tournament. Those attending were Amelie, Bailey, Emily, Florrie, Kiera, Jamie, Maisy, Oliver & Tom.

26 May 2016:   A team of Year 6 children took part in the Guildford Schools Kwik Cricket Competition attempting to replicate last year's success and reach the county round.  They played 4 games, winning 2 games against St Bede's and Bushy Hill but unfortunately losing 2 to Holy Trinity and the eventual winners, Tillingbourne Primary.  This left us in 3rd place, not quite enough to qualify for the next round.   Teddy Clapton particularly enjoyed his afternoon’s activities!

17 & 18 May 2016Two teams from Ripley Primary School made the trip to Kingfield, the home of Woking Football Club, to compete in their annual “Football in the Community” tournaments. The Year 4 Boys played four matches, drawing the first 0-0, then losing the remaining three games, all of which were closely contested matches.  The girls then had their turn and started in fine fashion by winning their opening two games, 1-0, and looking strong to make the semi-finals.  Unfortunately they then suffered two losses, both 1-0 and very tight games, leaving the girls in 3rd position in the group and sadly unable to qualify.  Both teams conducted themselves tremendously and were awarded medals for their participation.  Photographs of each team are on our website in the Photo Gallery.

Friday, 22 April 2016: a team from Year 3 and 4 took part in a football festival organised by WASPS and Woking Football in the Community.  We played in 4 games, losing 2, drawing 1 and winning a thriller against local rivals Byfleet, coming from 2-0 to win 3-2.  It was a great experience for the children as they prepare for more competitive sport opportunities in the future.

Wednesday, 24 February 2016:  our Girls Football team travelled to Goldsworth Primary School this week to play a WASPS league game.  The girls continued their unbeaten run with a 3/0 win on a rather damp and boggy pitch.  All players performed well and I am very proud of their achievements and development as a team over the past two years.

Woking District Football: our best wishes go to Ben, Millie & Georgia from Year 6 who will be representing Woking Primary Schools in football again this weekend.  The girls will be joined by Elin, who is making her first appearance in the A team, despite being younger and in Year 4!  Congratulations to all four players for being selected and representing Woking & Ripley.

Thursday 4 February 2016: Year 3 & 4 footballers travelled to Guildford Spectrum to take part in a Sports Hall Athletics Festival organised by Guildford Confederation.  It was the first time the school had entered this event and the first time many of the children had represented the school.  The children all participated in variety of adapted track and field events and enjoyed themselves immensely.

Thursday 4 February 2016: our girls football team were back in action for the first time since before Christmas.  They hosted a strong & well-organised team from Pirbright Primary who were last year’s Woking Schools & County Champions.  Our girls started well and led 1-0 at half-time.  Pirbright fought their way back into the game and scored an equaliser with 5 minutes left.  The game finished with a 1-1 draw, which was a probably a fair result to an entertaining game.

Friday 29 January 2016: our boys football team hosted Broadmere Primary school from Sheerwater in a WASPS league match.  The boys quickly took advantage of their inexperienced opponents and led 4-0 by half-time.  Despite their healthy lead, the boys kept their heads, continuing to play good football with an eventual 6-1 score!
